Sistemas de Riego

For the 2013 edition of "Noche en Blanco" (Nuit Blanche) in Lima, the prestigious visual artist Nani Cárdenas invited me to be part of "Sistemas de Riego" (Irrigation Systems), a project carried out with the architect Maya Ballén and a team of collaborators.

This installation makes reference to a domestic practice, little known, done in many old houses built with adobe. It consists on watering the walls of the building with the objective of eroding them so they are declared as uninhabitable. Since the houses can not be demolished, the owners can sell them as land, although many of them have been named historical heritage. This piece served as means to denounce and draw attention to the situation of historic monuments, real estate pressure and the waste of the most important resource for humans (water).
